LETTER TO MOTHER ASCENSIÓN NICOL AND FATHER RAMÓN ZUBIETA

Dearest Mother Ascensión Nicol and Father Ramón Zubieta,

It is with great joy that I address you through this brief letter. I wish to express the affection and gratitude I hold in my heart. I trust that now, in the presence of the Father, you are enjoying the fullness of eternal joy with his Son.

I am well, thank God, and I continue to go forward in faith and hope. I address you with profound admiration and respect, moved by the desire to share my dreams and also my fears with you.

Beloved Msgr. Zubieta and Mo. Ascension,  I know that you lived with a great awareness of the reality of your time, attentive to the needs of the world and you both were generous in your dedication. You both, understood that the Kingdom of God is not something abstract or distant, but is built every day, in the concrete, in the small, in the simple. For this reason, you both responded courageously to God’s call, placing yourselves at the service of the poorest and most vulnerable, listening and loving them with tenderness and dedication.

Today, inspired by your example, I too, wish to contribute to this world, transforming it into a more just, humane, and fraternal place. I wish that my life may have meaning in this service, that my hands may work for the good of others, and that my heart may not close itself to the suffering of others.

Furthermore, I long for a community filled with love, joy, humility, and respect, in which each of us knows how to express our love for the poor. I long for a community that knows how to listen to the needs of each other. I also recognize that I feel that fear: fear of not being capable for the task, of making mistakes, of lacking courage or perseverance, of not knowing how to respond to the challenges of consecrated life, of not being a sister that is attentive and dedicated to others.

Therefore, I ask you to intercede for me, to accompany me with your example and your spiritual presence. May you help me trust more in God and in His love. May you teach me to look at reality with hope and to act with commitment.

Thank you for your dedicated life, for your witnessing, for your love of the Gospel. May I, like you, walk with my feet and heart firmly on the ground.

Thank you very much, and a fraternal hug from your dear daughter,

Edmira
