Let me greet you in the peace of Christ, with the confidence that you are already enjoying your heavenly home.
At the same time, I wish to express my profound gratitude for your lives, dedicated entirely to the service of the poorest. Thank you for this dedication: your legacy lives on today throughout the world, for you have touched the hearts of the sisters and Christians who continue to speak of you in your writings, so that your name may be known from generation to generation.
Dear Father and Mother, I, in particular, had already heard of you before entering the convent. But today, listening again to your stories, I always learn something new that moves and strengthens me. I am convinced that your life is a true example for those who commit to the missionary life. You cannot imagine the joy you give me and how much I long to be able to speak to you personally. But, since I cannot, I am certain that, through faith, you are listening to me. The story of your life teaches me every day that in this life there are not only roses, but also thorns. Furthermore, dear parents, when I hear about your difficulties and trials, my heart fills with pettiness, helplessness, and fear. And at the same time, I ask myself:
Where did you find the strength to persevere and continue?
I would like you to tell me about your encounter with God in difficult times. Now that God has awakened in me the grace of vocation, to live it within the Congregation you founded, I want to express my gratitude for the many opportunities you have given me, especially during this stage of formation. As a friend, I would like to share my dreams and fears, what arises in these moments. I know I am not perfect; I recognize my weaknesses, which often prevent me from fulfilling God’s will. Despite this, I desire to be a witness to the Gospel with my life, both inside and outside the community, because that is the best I can offer.
I dream of allowing myself to be shaped by God every day, of discovering the good within me. I dream of deeply understanding and living our Charism as a gift of the Spirit, both in community and in missions, in service to the poorest. I want to orient my life as a process, open to change, willing to learn and to unlearn, and also to teach.
- I dream of a community of sisters who love one another despite their limitations; a community where unity, fraternal correction, love, and mutual acceptance reign. I have hope for an end to wars and for peace to reign in the hearts of those who need it.
- I dream of more inclusive communities, living an authentic synodal spirit, walking together toward an ideal of peace and justice.
- I dream of a community that fights corruption and racism, where no one feels excluded.
- I have a dream that those who do not believe in God today will one day believe.
However,I also have fears:
- of losing God’s presence in my words and actions,
- I fear that one day I will not be able to live according to our Charism,
- I fear risking my life for the poor,
- I fear being where there is no peace,
- I fear not living my commitment with humility.
Dear parents, if this is God’s will, who am I to resist?
Let His will be done, not mine. Since you know me well, I sincerely ask you to show me the path to follow.
With much love, accept my embrace.
Your daughter and your sister,
Rosaria Nafeca Enoque Luciano
