“From our missionary vocation, we walk with women so that each one may rediscover her voice, her strength, and her dignity.”
On International Women’s Day, the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary gratefully and hopefully renew our commitment to walk alongside so many women who, from their diverse realities and contexts, seek to open new horizons of life and dignity. Our missionary vocation impels us to share life, to listen to stories, and to recognize in every woman a sacred presence that deserves to be welcomed with respect, tenderness, and profound reverence.
Inspired by the Gospel story of the Samaritan woman, we also see ourselves as seekers of sources that nourish our being and strengthen our mission. Like her, we approach the wellsprings of daily life where so many women carry their struggles, hopes, and deepest questions. There, in that simple and sincere encounter, we discovered that God continues to reveal himself in the thirst for justice, love, and meaning that dwells in every heart. From this experience, we feel the challenge of creating missionary spaces where women can grow in authenticity, freedom, and independence, recognizing their value and the transformative power within them.
Committing to the mission of integral accompaniment for women also implies a path of personal and communal conversion. As sisters, we know that we cannot accompany life processes without allowing ourselves to be challenged by our own stories and journeys. This mission invites us to honestly examine our weaknesses, to continue growing as individuals and as a community, and to cultivate an attentive and compassionate listening that draws us closer, with greater truth, to the women with whom we share our lives.
It is not always easy to take off our shoes before the sacred ground that is each life story. The women we encounter along the way carry with them profound experiences that have shaped their way of inhabiting the world: stories of struggle, resilience, imposed silences, but also of dreams and aspirations seeking to emerge. Accompanying them means entering this intimate space with respect, recognizing that each process has its own rhythm and that each story holds a wisdom that deserves to be heard.
In the midst of this journey, we experience deep gratitude upon witnessing how many women, through holistic support programs, training workshops, moments of reflection, and shared living communities, have been reclaiming their voices and strengthening their capacity to make decisions about their own lives. These processes not only foster personal growth but also create networks of support and solidarity among women who recognize each other as companions on the path, capable of sustaining one another in the pursuit of a fuller life.
Our missionary experience confirms that when women find safe spaces to express themselves, reflect, and share, new forces of hope and transformation awaken. Every story that is rebuilt, every voice that rises with greater confidence, every woman who recognizes her own worth and ability to forge new paths, is a sign of the Kingdom of God that continues to germinate in the midst of our communities.
As Dominican Missionaries of the Rosary, we continue to commit to a mission that accompanies, listens to, and walks alongside women. We deeply believe that encounter, shared words, and the building of communities where life can flourish are paths that open possibilities for personal and social transformation.
On International Women’s Day, we give thanks for the lives of so many women who teach us every day to resist, to dream, and to continue walking with hope. Together, we continue to seek sources of life, convinced that when women come together, listen to one another, and support each other, new paths open up where dignity, freedom, and a full life can flourish.
